Cuppers successes for LMH Football

8 April 2009

2009 was a year of Cuppers victories for LMH Football, with both the men’s and women’s teams winning their Divisions.

In the final match of the season on 13 March, the LMH men’s team (pictured right) beat Corpus Christi and Linacre 3-0 and won the First Division. As a result of this victory, LMH will be catapulted into the Premier Division for the 2010 season for the first time.

The women’s team, which is shared with Trinity College, also made Cuppers history. With their 4-3 victory over the St Antony’s/Trinity team last term, they became the first women’s team to win their Cuppers Division for two consecutive years.

LMH captain Emma Dickinson (2007 Modern Languages), (pictured far right, with Trinity captain), was delighted with the result, particularly given that the team’s season got off to a slow start. “I never expected a repeat of last year's Cuppers success especially when we almost didn't qualify for the second round of the competition, but winning two years in a row is an amazing achievement. I have really enjoyed captaining and playing with a great group of girls who have shown fantastic team spirit and who thoroughly deserved their Cuppers victory.”                                                                                                                          KMK
